2020, the year we stayed home. 2020, the year all fun needed to be had outside. 2020, the year that the outdoor ice rink in Rockton reopened for winter fun! (Well, technically it might not reopen until 2021, but you get my point).

In a year full of bad news and finding ways to safely have fun with our family, hearing that the outdoor ice rink located near the boat launch in Rockton will finally be reopened is bringing smiles to so many skate-loving faces!

Rockton's ice rink originally opened in 2010, but has been closed for many years because it is badly in need of repairs and too unstable to skate on. Thankfully, that is all changing this winter, IF you and I step up to the plate and help.

Volunteers and members of the Rockton Lions Club have been hard at work rebuilding the rink walls, but to keep the progress going, they need help...both monetary and physical help.

Let's start with monetary help. A GoFundMe has been created to help raise money for materials. The organizers need $1,500 more for materials, and as I write this, they are more than halfway to accomplishing their goal!

If you have more time than money, the Rockton Lions Club will gladly accept your sweat labor as well. Keep a close eye on the Rockton Ice Rink's Facebook for more info on their next volunteer session.

HUGE THANKS to everyone who came out today to rebuild the walls at the hockey rink & to all those who have donated to help purchase the materials. Still more work to be done, but great progress being made!
