Lots of Good Changes at Illinois’ Six Flags Great America for 2022
It's been nearly two decades since Six Flags Great America has made this many improvements, great and small, to the amusement park.
New food options, some quick new ways to get a seat on your favorite rides and the DC Universe is spreading at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, Illinois.
The 2022 Season Has Arrived at Six Flags Great America
Our favorite amusement park has opened for the season and here are the things you need to know to have the best time.
Six Flags is open on weekends only, Saturdays 10:30 a.m. - 8;00 p.m. and Sundays 10:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. The park will be open Fridays, starting on May 6th, Thursdays get added on May 19th, Tuesday and Wednesday operating hours begin on May 24th, and seven days a week after that. One-day passes start at $34.99.
That brings us to the changes at Six Flags for 2022. We got a quick look at some of them thanks to wgntv.com.
There are now 4 different levels for Six Flags Season Passes in 2022
There's a summer-only pass for $70, a Thrill Seeker pass for $80, the Extreme pass for $170, and the Ultimate pass for $300. The first three passes also include general parking. The Ultimate pass includes preferred parking.

The Six Flags Dining Pass Has Changed for 2022
You used to be able to pay a fee when you sent to the park to eat whenever you wanted, now there are meal plans you can add to your season pass. More info on those add-ons is here.
Six Flags Rollercoaster Changes for 2022 Season
Maxx Force, The Joker Free-Fly Coaster, Justice League: Battle for Metropolis and The Dark Knight Coaster will be getting single-rider lines. This will help make sure there are never any empty seats.
Six Flags Flash Pass System is Making a Small Change for the 2022 Season
My favorite change this year at Six Flags:
This season, Six Flags is offering the system that will get you on rides super fast and is now available to both purchase and use through an app on your phone. I sure hope this gets rid of having to stand in that long line to buy a Flash Pass.
The DC Universe is Expanding in 2022 at Six Flags Great America
There's a rebranding in progress right now of the Yankee Harbor section of the park to DC Universe. No new rides, but none closing either.
Vertical Velocity becomes The Flash: Vertical Velocity, the Yankee Clipper becomes Aquaman Splashdown, and Whriligig becomes DC Super-Villains Swing.
This section of the park won't open until later in the spring.
