Rockford’s Popular Smashing Pumpkins Event is Back
Before you toss that sad, squishy pumpkin into the trash, here’s a better idea: get ready to launch it across a parking lot in a spectacular pumpkin-smashing event.
Get Ready to Smash Your Pumpkins at Rockford's Discovery Center Museum!
Have a squishy pumpkin ready for the garbage? Hold off for just a few more days and bring it to Rockford’s Discovery Center Museum’s annual “Smashing Pumpkins” event this Sunday, November 3.
Let your kids (and maybe you) experience the joy of hurling a pumpkin from high above, launching it across the museum’s parking lot, and watching it splatter in a glorious mess.
Thanks to the museum’s trebuchet, you’ll be tossing those squishy gourds high in the air, creating the perfect smash landing that’s both thrilling and satisfying.
And there’s more than just pumpkin mayhem—face painting, cornhole, and lawn games are all on the agenda to keep everyone entertained. Local food trucks will also be on-site, serving up tasty bites to keep your energy up as you watch the pumpkin carnage unfold.
After the smashing fun, all those gooey pumpkin guts will be collected and sent to local farms for composting. To keep things manageable, please bring only one pumpkin per child in your group.
This epic pumpkin-busting fun runs from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Discovery Center Museum, located at 711 North Main Street along the Rock River.
Admission is $10, with children under one admitted free, and museum members get in free as well. So, pack up those sad old pumpkins and get ready for a smashing good time this Sunday!
Sounds like the perfect Sunday, well almost. Maybe some donuts and cider after the event ends.
