Someone Stole Face Masks From the Art Institute Lions in Chicago

This is why we can't have nice things. Why do people do this stuff?

On April 30, face masks were put on the Art Institute of Chicago's iconic lions. This, just one day before Governor Pritzker's order for all Illinois residents to wear masks in public during the continued COVID-19 pandemic. I guess it was "symbolic" while it lasted because, less than 24 hours after the masks were applied, one was stolen.

NBC-5 in Chicago shared a description of the culprits in their report.

An Art Institute security guard saw two males get out of a black Chevrolet sedan about 10:55 p.m. and proceed to climb onto one of the statues at the museum, 111 S. Michigan Ave., according to Chicago police. They cut the mask from the lion’s head and fled in the car.
