Summer Camps for Kids In the Rockford Area

Earlier this week I made the discovery that I totally failed as a Mom and was too late to sign my girls up for soccer this Spring, and that news was not received well by them. To redeem myself in my children's eyes, I started a hunt for summer camp options, and the amount of choices we have in the Rockford area is kind of mind boggling...in a good way.

The 'Little Buckaroo Pony Camp' at Rockford Park District's Lockwood Park is always a must-do for my horse-loving girls, but I needed additional options to make up for my major Mom fail, and because my husband and I want to treat them to more fun than they had during last year's bummer summer.

When it comes to searching for fun, local ideas for kids, one of my first stops is always Stateline Kids on Facebook. It's no surprise that they have already started creating a 2021 Summer Camp Guide which has a huge bunch of options to choose from, for all ages, in the Rockford area, but there are a few more I've found to add to the list...

• Camp Midway at Midway Village Museum: Full day (7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.), available for kids entering 1st grade through 5th grade. Different weekly, themed camp options are available beginning June 21, 2021 though the week of August 9, 2021. Each weekly session is $150 per camper ($140 for members), and registration is going on now at midwayvillage.com.
• YMCA Camp Winnebago: Day camp options are available for kids ages 5 up to 12th grade beginning the week of June 14, 2021. There are many themes and dates to choose from, see the list and get signed up now at rockriverymca.org.
• Rockford Park District Time 2 Play Neighborhood Playgrounds Program: In addition to camp options at most Rockford Park District facilities, the RPD offers free programs at several neighborhood parks for kids to gather, play games and do other fun activities. Keep an eye on rockfordparkdistrict.org for when registration for the 2021 session opens up.
• Summerama Day Camp at First Free Rockford: Weekly options for children entering grades 1–6 in the fall, but sessions for kids ages 3 to 5 are available too. Summerama Day Camp runs from 10 a.m.–3:30 p.m. Monday–Friday and registration is going on now at summerama.org.

Don't forget many other churches in the Rockford area offer summer camp and bible school options too that your kids are bound to love. Start hitting up websites for registration, and let me know what ones are your kids' favorites so I can look them them up too!
