Join us in celebrating a South Beloit High School art teacher who goes above and beyond to inspire creativity in his students.
97ZOK Teacher of the Week
Congratulations to Mr. David Eckburg from South Beloit High School in South Beloit, IL
Amber (mom) and Natalie (daughter) Laue nominated Mr. Eckburg, they write,
Mr. Eckberg is an amazing teacher. He has an amazing way of connecting with kids, even the quiet ones that keep to themselves. He makes art fun and does a great job of encouraging creativity and building skill. My daughter had such a positive experience with Mr. Eckberg that she chose to take AP US History instead of regular history as that was the only way painting with Eckberg fit into her schedule. When I asked Natalie why Mr. Eckberg was an amazing teacher she said ""he is really funny and he is good at not letting the troublemakers take over and ruin a class. He has rules and expectations but still has fun teaching which means I have fun learning.""
This summer Mr. Eckberg invited Natalie and some other students to work on a mural at South Beloit City Park. This is obviously time the Mr. Eckberg is not actually getting paid, but still teaching and encouraging our local artists to hone in their craft.
Simply stated... Eckberg is awesome and I am SO glad that Natalie has gotten to learn with him.
You can listen to our conversation with Mr. Eckburg below and hear more great things we learned about this wonderful human being.
