Congratulations, Janet Blatchford from Cherry Valley Elementary School in Cherry Valley, Illinois

Katie DiNicola nominated Janet, she writes,

Not only is Janet Blatchford a great teacher, but within 8 months, she lost her aunt (May 4, 2024) and father (March 4, 2025) from the same side of the family, both to cancer. It has been a heartbreaking time for her. She is retiring after this school year and she was looking forward to spending part of her winters in Texas with her dad.
Her dedication & passion for teaching have shown throughout the years. From students who had little/no support at home, to even not having food, she showed them compassion & tried putting them on the right track. Any parent or child who was lucky enough to have her as a teacher has had nothing but great things to say about her. I am not only proud to nominate her as TOTW, but to call her family.
She has been a role model for many who have come through her classroom. She deserves a spa day to celebrate her dream job she has been doing, but also relax and remember all the good times with family. Thank you!

As Teacher of the Week, Janet was surprised with a cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes and money to spend at WM Day Spa Salon.
