Congratiulations to Melissa Beil from DaVinci Academy in Belvidere, Illinois
Brittany Matz nominated Melissa, she writes,
I am honored to nominate Ms. Melissa for Teacher of the Week because she is the kind of teacher who changes lives—not just through what she teaches, but through the love, patience, and kindness she gives so freely.
We have been blessed to know Ms. Melissa for the past year and a half. My now four-year-old son started in her classroom when he was just two, and from the very beginning, she made a lasting impact on our family. He has always had a deep love for dinosaurs—so much so that some days, he is a dinosaur. While some teachers struggled to embrace his passion, Ms. Melissa found a way to nurture it with gentle boundaries, making him feel accepted and encouraged rather than different or difficult. That kind of understanding is rare, and it meant the world to us.
Now, my daughter is lucky enough to have Ms. Melissa as her pre-k teacher, and we continue to see the magic she brings to the classroom. Every morning, my kids run straight to her for the warmest, most genuine hugs, knowing they are met with love and excitement for the day ahead. She listens—really listens—to her students, making each of them feel important, valued, and safe. I have never once seen her without a smile, and her joy for teaching shines through in everything she does.
Ms. Melissa isn’t just a teacher—she’s a light in the lives of the children she cares for. She embraces them for who they are, celebrates their uniqueness, and helps them grow with kindness and understanding. She has left an imprint on my children’s hearts, and I can think of no one more deserving of this recognition.
Thank you for considering her for this honor.
