The First Bill in 2019 to Legalize Marijuana in Illinois is Here
This marijuana bill would allow for licensed businesses to grow and sell marijuana, and to provide on-site 'smoke' and 'swallow' spots.
The first bill to legalize marijuana in Illinois has arrived, via Democratic Rep. Carol Ammons of Urbana. According to chicagotribune.com, the bill, introduced January 25th, would allow licensed businesses to grow and sell pot, and residents to grow up to 24 plants at home.
Governor J.B. Pritzker and House Speaker Michael Madigan have both expressed their support for legalization, but it's likely this bill won't make the climb to the top of the hill. Insiders says a more restrictive bill has more potential to pass.
