Time To Apply For Snowmobile Trail Grant In Illinois

Even though it's still summer, now is the time to apply for a snowmobile trail grant in the state of Illinois.

It's been discussed many times for several reasons. 2020 has been the craziest year. Besides all the strange occurrences, it really feels like someone is messing with the timeline. Kind of like watching the instant replay in a football game. Our lives are being slowed down and sped up. During the lockdown, life crept along very slowly. When things opened up and the weather got nice, the days flew by.

I hate to say it, but even though it's only August, it's time to start thinking about the winter. Yes, I said the "W" word. Especially, if you enjoy outdoor activities like snowmobiling. You need places to ride your sled and maybe even one of your very own. If so and you are looking for some help. Now, is the time to ask for it.

According to the Illinois DNR website,

"The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) today announced applications are now being accepted for grants through the Snowmobile Trail Establishment Fund (STEF) grant program. The deadline to apply is Oct. 1, 2020."

What does it provide?

"The primary purpose of the STEF grant program is to provide financial aid to eligible private, not-for-profit snowmobile clubs for the purpose of assisting such organizations to construct, maintain and rehabilitate snowmobile trails and facilities on public lands, designated roadways, or private land opened to such use in the state."
