This Sunday in Rockford, there's a parking lot party and toy drive.

Christmas will be here before you know it. With this crazy year, it's a little harder to get into the spirit of the season. Many events, activities, and traditions have been canceled.  We may have to come up with new things and traditions with our families to help kick start ourselves into a holiday like mood.

The one thing I know is it shouldn't be a problem coming up with replacement ideas because it's the year of creativity. Coming up with different ways to celebrate, local restaurants have been leading the way.

I believe helping out people who need it this holiday season would put your mind in the right place. Don't worry if you can't this year, we understand times are tough. I admit there are many ways to give in the state line area. Times like these are when the Rockford community really steps up. This next event allows for you to have some safe fun too. I think we could all use a little bit of that right now.

This Sunday at Ciao Bella Italian Kitchen on East Riverside from 12 pm to 2 pm is holding a Toy Drive and Parking Lot Party.

Here are the details about the toy drive...

They will be collecting toys and items for the MotherHouse Crisis Nursery that supports single moms. The needed items are diapers, pull-ups, formula, wipes, toys, and clothing.

As a thank you for the donation, you'll get some coupons for local businesses including  The Bullpen, Sugar Jones, and Ciao Bella.

Now, for the party...

DJ Jimmie Jamz will be spinning your favorite Christmas tunes. Also, there will be tasty winter cocktails and delicious food from Ciao Bella. Don't forget Baked Wings is there too. A heated area will be open.

As an added bonus...

You can also do your Christmas shopping. Gift cards will be on sale "buy one, get one half off." $10 Bottles of Canyon Road Wine will also be available.

Along with a drive-thru and drop off for donations and shopping.

This is such a good event in so many ways. You're helping out a charity that needs help, supporting a local business, and having a good time. It's a win-win for everyone.

If you're worried about football at the same time. The Bears are awful and not worth watching and if you're a Packer fan they don't play until later in the day.
