What Ever Happened to the Grocery Store We Were Supposed to Get in Downtown Rockford?

Does anyone know what happened to the store we were supposed to get downtown?

Maybe it's because I was living downtown at the time this was announced, but I remember being super excited to hear we were going to get a grocery store in downtown Rockford.

As early as November 2017, we were expecting this store, which was supposed to be called, 'Captial Foods,' to occupy an open space at the corner of West State and North Main.

Then, I moved closer to Target and admittedly forgot about this store until someone mentioned it to me yesterday and I was like, hey wait, wasn't that supposed to open already?

I dug back into the Internet and saw that construction on the store was supposed to begin last May. Clearly that didn't happen.

Does anyone know the store behind this store we never got?
