Are you familiar with the term "ugly lights?" Think of the last time you met someone at a crowded bar or night club. The lights are down low, you can feel the bass from the music pounding in your chest and your "date" looks stunning as he or she is basking in the glow of the neon lights.

A few hours and a few drinks later it's time to close down the bar and head home; that's when it happens- the "ugly lights" come on. Once that light is on, the beer goggles come off and you see what your dance partner really looks like and it's not good. It's awkward, uncomfortable and you can't get out of there fast enough.

That's what happened to my friend Peggy, except her experience was at a movie theater; and it wasn't a person, it was the seats. Yep, the "ugly light" phenomenon can also have an effect on movie-goers.

This is what it looks like at the AMC Theater in Machesney Park when you turn the "ugly lights" on.

Yikes.

AMC Theaters has responded to Peggy's complaint and they're working with the Machesney Park location to get the situation addressed.
