To get ready to face other teams, Chicago White Sox pitching star plays baseball video game.

The basic concept of baseball is still the same after all these years. It's the study of the game that has evolved immensely. The strategy is now more about numbers, math, and science. To find out more, check out the movie, "Moneyball." Players, coaches, scouts, owners, and teams are doing whatever they can to get the advantage over their rivals. It's amazing how far the game has come.

Many kids enjoy playing video games. Hours upon hours in front of a screen to build up the skills to beat their friends. If this describes you, then there's a good chance you heard these types of things from your parents. You're wasting your time. Playing video games will never get you anywhere. Why don't you go outside and play the real game. It goes on and on. Unless they actually play themselves, parents aren't fans of this digital world.

Well, is it possible that they were wrong? Video games could actually be helpful. Even in professional sports. Don't agree, well, ask White Sox ace, Lucas Giolito. He believes they do assist with his game.

According to sportsmockery.com,

“VISUALIZATION AND SCOUTING REPORTS … AN INTERESTING WAY I DO THAT IS PLAYING MLB THE SHOW. I PLAY MLB THE SHOW AS MYSELF PITCHING AGAINST THE TEAM I WILL BE PLAYING AGAINST IN REAL LIFE THE NEXT DAY, DOING MY SCOUTING REPORT, YA KNOW, TAKING MY NOTES, APPLYING THAT SCOUTING REPORT TO THE VIDEO GAME THEN SEEING MY VIDEO GAME SELF BE SUCCESSFUL THE DAY BEFORE I GO AND PITCH IN A GAME.”

Maybe that's why I wasn't good at sports. I sucked at video games too. It could be that I just don't have any skills.
