Wisconsin’s Most Beautiful Lake is the Perfect Summer Getaway

Growing up, I got the chance to spend some time in Minocqua, Wisconsin.

At first, I kind of thought the Most Beautiful Lake for Wisconsin was going to be Minocqua's Lower Lake Kaubashine.

Lower Lake Kaubashine is one of the most beautiful, stunning, and serene bodies of water I have ever laid eyes on.

Considering, Lower (or Upper) Lake Kaubashine isn't Love Exploring's pick for Most Beautiful Lake in Wisconsin, that must really be saying something about Lake Chippewa.

The man-made lake, which was created in 1923 by combining the waters of 11 natural lakes plus rivers and streams, is famed for its smattering of undeveloped islands and wildlife including eagles, otters, elk and herons. Trails around its edges are popular for hiking and, in winter, cross-country skiing.

Sounds like the perfect place for a quick summer getaway for the fam or friends.

Just so you know, Lake Chippewa is 5 hours and 15 minutes from Rockford, so be prepared to make the jaunt.

I'm sure there are plenty of other spots around the lake including some of the other smaller lakes, like Little Round Lake and Bass Lake that have spots to set up camp.
