Living in Rockford my entire life has given me a unique perspective on how much this city has truly evolve over the years.  Businesses come and go, but what never leaves are the opinions of the residents.

Personally, I think this city has so much potential to grow into an even better place to call home, and a tourist town.  Set aside the crime, high property taxes, and pothole-filled roads.  What does Rockford NEED to make it flourish?

If we had more places to sit and work, without the pressure of buying anything, that'd be a great addition to this town.  Almoka, a new coffee shop in Rockford, is open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays for guests to enjoy a space to work and hangout!  I love that they're open late, catering to so many people.

What do we need?  More car washes? More coffee shops?  Diverse job opportunities?

Here's what residents hope to see, eventually.

Businesses We Think Rockford Needs In The Next 10 Years

"Rockford needs to develop the Rock River . Nice restaurants amid boat launches .. add to what Prairie Street Brewery started." - Peter S.

"A big flea market. I love being able to walk around for hours, looking at things people make, fruit, homemade goods, and all the other “junk”." - Jessica B.

  • Drive-thru veggie stands
  • More malls & shopping centers
  • Craft stores
  • Rooftop dining
  • Bookstores

The list really could be endless.  Sure, tons of people hate the question, "what does Rockford need?" but it's a valid question.  The only way we'll know what this city wants!
