City of Rockford’s COVID-19 Mitigation Efforts Report Card Is In

The City of Rockford released notes on the current state of businesses when it comes to following mitigation efforts. At this point, I don't even know what "mitigation" efforts are supposed to be. Isn't every business open right now? Regardless, based on the city's Code Enforcement team's report, it seems like COVID-19 era rules are being followed, I guess?

The City of Rockford's Code Enforcement Team visited 200+ businesses to check on compliance with Illinois' mandated mitigation measure. Here are the results.

• 80% of businesses were in compliance with mitigation measures on the first visit.
• 15% of businesses were given education and guidance because they were not in compliance with mitigation measures, but were able to address the violation immediately and come into compliance.
• 5% of businesses were issued a notice of non-compliance or an order to disperse. These businesses had received education from our staff on a first visit and were not in compliance on the second visit.
• Two businesses were issued a notice to appear in an administrative hearing for repeated violations and could receive a fine up to $750 per offense. These businesses were not in compliance on two prior visits.

The CIty said, via Facebook, they will continue to provide education on the measures which are intended to slow the spread of COVID-19. Also, residents are encouraged to stay home, wear a mask in public, and wash their hands frequently.
