What's been trending as a funny TikTok prank is now being linked to a heartbreaking tragedy.  Police are now warning the public to protect your kids from falling victim.

After a 42-year-old man in Houston was charged with murder after allegedly killing an 11-year-old boy playing ding-dong-ditch with his friends, it has now gained national attention.

This isn't just a "ding-dong-ditch" like what we used to play way back in the day.  No, now it has turned into the "door kick challenge" where kids are kicking in front doors of peoples' homes.  It's all part of social media dares and influenced by platforms like TikTok.

"Officers were told the male was ringing doorbells of homes in the area and running away. A witness stated the male was running from a house, after ringing the doorbell, just prior to suffering a gunshot wound," Houston homicide detectives said." [abcnews]
