Are you superstitious?

Sorry, I had to.

I'm very superstitious. I was definitely that kid who avoided sidewalk cracks, held my breath past when I passed cemeteries, and other things like that. Now that I'm older, I see superstition differently. I also don't have the time or effort to give to avoid sidewalk cracks.

Turns out I'm not alone in believing these superstitions. A new study just revealed Illinois' most popular superstition. Here's what the study revealed for each state -

Turns out Illinois' most popular superstition is the good luck horseshoe!

Here's the top three most popular superstitions across America -

  1. Throwing salt over your shoulder
  2. Bad luck comes in threes
  3. Lucky Rabbit's foot

I definitely believe in throwing salt over your shoulder. (I also immediately clean the salt up that I throw) I'm also a firm believer in bad things come in threes. I've had so many times in my life where two bad things happen, and I just brace for impact because I KNOW a third bad thing is coming next. That was actually Wisconsins's most popular superstition.

One on the list I hadn't heard of is the "good luck lady bug". According to Pestdefense.com -

When a ladybug lands on you, it's considered a sign of good luck since you will be granted more patience and fewer burdens. Bug superstitions even say that if you are ill when a ladybug lands on you, it takes the illness away!
The more you know. You can check out the full study here.
