Your grandparents might not want to play with you anymore.

I am the queen of made-up words and phrases. I love them. But when I play Scrabble I'm a pretty big rules stickler. I think we have three Scrabble dictionaries at my house, because sometimes you just can't share.

That being said, I guess I can start using weird words in my Scrabble games. Words like emoji and twerking. Both of which I love, and both of which come up with a red squiggle underneath when I type them.

Scrabble has decided to allow emoji, twerking and over 6,000 other words in their game, despite the fact that you might never have heard of some of them.

Maybe Scrabble is trying to hook teenagers. Whatever the reason, there are a bunch of newbie words you're allowed to use in Scrabble, including these:

  • Bezzy - best friend (18 points)
  • Cakeages - charges in a restaurant for serving cake brought in from outside (15 points)
  • Emoji - digital icon used in electronic communication (14 points)
  • Obvs - obviously (9 points)
  • Ridic - ridiculous (8 points)
  • Thanx - thank you (15 points)
  • Tweep - person who uses Twitter (10 points)
  • Twerking - type of dance involving rapid hip movement (16 points)
  • Yeesh - interjection used to express frustration (11 points)

My dad is going to have a cow when I use the word "cakeages."
