Illinois’ Top Searched Slang Word Is America’s Least Favorite—Here’s Why

Alright, Illinois, we need to talk.  We might think we're shy, quiet, and modest when searching things on the internet—according to Google, we are the total opposite.

Going viral online is a blessing and a curse.  You get a little bit of fame, money, and exposure, but at what cost?  You'll forever be known as the person who blew up because of something you said, did, or shared.

As for one TikToker, they went viral for saying one phrase that spread rapidly across the world: "Very demure, very mindful." 

Everyone started saying it, about everything.

America started getting sick of hearing "Very demure, very mindful".  Unfortunately, it's not going away anytime soon.  I can promise you that.

For Illinois, we just wanted to know what the heck demure meant!

Yes, you read that correctly—demure.  After blowing up on TikTok, it's not only a new word added to our vocabulary, but it shot straight to the top of Illinois' slang searches.

It means shy, modest, and quiet—basically the exact opposite of what you’d expect to be trending on TikTok.  "Hawk tuah" also made the top 10 list.

Check out all the slang words that we Googled the most in Illinois this year.  I don't even know what half the words are, but I have a feeling I won't be alone on this one.
