Glow in the Garden Returns to Rockford’s Nicholas Conservatory This September
Every September, something magical happens in Rockford. Just as the summer begins to fade, Nicholas Conservatory transforms into a glowing wonderland that brings the community together in the most beautiful way.
What Is Glow in the Garden at Nicholas Conservatory?

Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens is bringing back its beloved Glow in the Garden event on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 6 to 9 p.m. This end-of-summer tradition invites families to wear anything that glows, sparkles, or lights up and enjoy a stunning night outdoors along the Rock River.
Floating Lanterns on the Eclipse Lagoon
The star of the show is the floating lantern release. For just $5, you can decorate a lantern with a name, message, or memory and release it into the Eclipse Lagoon. The sight of glowing lanterns drifting across the water is breathtaking, every single time.
Family Fun, Food Trucks, and Free Activities
From 6 to 9 p.m., the gardens will be filled with family activities, music, and glow-in-the-dark fun. Admission to the outdoor grounds is free, and local food trucks and a cash bar (thanks to Disco Drinks Mobile Cocktail Bar) will be on site. The indoor Conservatory will be closed during the event.
