One of Rockford's biggest, most successful revenue generators is sports tourism. One team in our city has just won national recognition for keeping it that way.

The National Association of Sports Commissions, the only not-for-profit association in sports tourism, is holding their annual meeting in Grand Rapids, MI.. For almost 25 years, the NASC has been dedicated to the success of more than 700 member organizations and 2,000 serious-minded, sport tourism professionals.

At this year's NASC event, Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (RACVB) was awarded:

Sports Tourism Organization of the Year

This award comes at a great time for our city as two wonderful projects are on the horizon. RACVB president/CEO John Groh says,

"So proud of our entire staff and board team! Today in Grand Rapids, RACVB was honored as Sports Tourism Organization of the Year by the National Association of Sports Commissions. This puts wind in our sails to go further/faster ... especially as we look ahead to the opening of the opening of the UW Health Sports Factory and the ribbon cutting on the expanded Mercy Rockford Sportscore Two complex."
