As Rockford drivers are starting to encounter more and more orange cones, here's what you should now about construction projects already started and ones to come.

According to wrex.com, last year was Rockford's biggest road construction season ever, at a total of $50 million. This year may turn out to be the same.

One very big construction project that has just started to grow in size is North Main Street, which will undergo a major facelift. North Main St. hasn't seen many changes in the last 15 years, according to the owners of Deli Italia at 3004 N. Main. There's one more thing you should know about this particular project, but I'll get to that in a moment.

On West State Street and Harrison Avenue between 9th and 20th Streets, the city is moving power lines underground, preparing sidewalks and reconfiguring the road. Harrison Ave. is already down to 2 lanes but that is certain to change often throughout the Summer. Bridge work is coming also to a stretch of Perryville road according to wifr.com.

Please remember to pay attention when you're driving in these construction zones, stay off your phone, and watch your speed.

Now, back to that North Main Street construction thing you may not know.

THAT PROJECT WILL TAKE 3 YEARS TO COMPLETE!

I think in the interim we should call North Main - Patience Parkway.

Stay safe out there everyone.
