I think it's safe to say the 2020/2021 school year has been less that stellar for everyone involved. All of the pandemic-related changes have been tough for students, families and staff members to deal with. It has tried our patience and adaptability as parents, and I can only imagine how hard it has been for teachers and staff in our schools.  I truly believe teachers and administrators are doing the best they can in the face of this mess, and they have my upmost appreciation.

Unfortunately there is another hurdle many school districts in Illinois, including RPS 205, are dealing with right now...a major substitute shortage. To get more substitute teachers available to Rockford Public Schools, Kelly Education is holding a job fair today (Wednesday, 4/14) at RPS 205's Administration Office located at  501 7th Street in Rockford.

Brad Beckner, VP of Operations for Kelly Education recently told mystateline.com;

Kelly Education actually found that only 54% of the nearly 250,000 teacher absences are able to be filled. Beckner says RPS 205 alone needs up to 100 new substitute teachers.

There is also a shortage of paraprofessionals in Rockford schools, so Kelly Education is hoping today's job fair will take care of those needs as well.

Today's Kelly Education Job Fair will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and although walk-in applicants will be accepted, signing up for a spot online in advance is encouraged. For more information on substitute teacher qualifications and job requirements, or to apply now, click here.
