Fred VanVleet has done a lot to make Rockford proud. He lead his high school basketball team downstate. Then after being ignored by the big colleges, played for Wichita State and lead the shockers to a Final Four appearance and became a household name in the process.

Unfortunately, none of those households apparently contained NBA General Managers because he went undrafted after leaving college. He agreed to a Summer League contract with the Raptors and quickly climbed through their system to be a pivotal player in the Raptors run to a title in 2019.

He even got to party with Drake.

All that makes you proud of him as someone who came from the area. Plus he seems like an absolutely wonderful guy. Bet on yourself indeed.

But I don't think I've ever been prouder of Fred than after he dropped the Sam Cassell dance on the 76ers last night.

If you're not familiar with one of the more obscure and hilarious celebrations in the league, watch this video chronicling all the instances of the Cassell Dance.

It's referred to as the Cassell Dance because Sam Cassell was the one of the first players to do it and he pulled it out in a playoff game against the Suns.

Billy Crystal loved it.

I'm not sure if this was the first time Fred's ever pulled out the Cassell but I sure hope it isn't the last. It's great to see Fred playing well, VanVleet and the Raptors come to the United Center to play the Bulls December 22.
