North Boone Celebrates a Teacher Whose Dedication Never Ends
Some nominations stand out because they come from the heart — and this one does exactly that. This week’s North Boone Teacher of the Week is being recognized not just for her dedication in the classroom, but for the countless hours, creativity, and care she pours into her students every single day. It’s a reminder that great teaching doesn’t end when the bell rings, and that the impact of a committed educator can be felt in ways students may not fully understand until years later.

Congratulations to Jodie Rogers from North Boone Middle School in Poplar Grove, Illinois
Hannah Rogers nominated Jodie, she writes,
Mrs. Rogers truly cares about educating students. She puts in effort during class and outside of class. While I had her as a student, I could see her dedication to making sure I understood the material and came out as a better student. She makes group activities, fun activities, solo activities, and so much more to make sure that everyone can understand the math. If someone doesn't understand, she tries her best to help them, because she cares about her students success. Not only was Mrs. Rogers my teacher, but she is my mom. Originally, the idea of having my mom and a teacher and being in the classroom with her was difficult (it was 7th grade). As I have gotten older, I realize this was the best thing that could have happened to me. Not only has this made me appreciate my mom more as a person, but appreciate teaching more as a profession. 7th grade was a long year for me, but since then I have seen my mom spend countless hours making lesson plans, sending emails, or trying to come up with new games that incorporate the math and make it fun. When someone thinks of teaching, they think of long breaks and easy hours, but it's not that. Even her summers are spent prepping for the new school year to make changes and stay relevant and designing her classroom. Mrs. Rogers deserves nothing more than this recognition for her hard work and dedication as a teacher. I love my mom and see how hard she continues to work after 23 years.
As Teacher of the Week, Jodie was surprised with a cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes, money to spend at WM Day Spa Salon, and lunch courtesy of Redd Insurance Group.
Can you imagine one of your children writing a letter like that about you? My first question for Jodie was how it felt to sit down and read your Teacher of the Week nomination letter and discover who submitted it. Listen to our conversation below.
