Teacher of the Week: Mrs. Campbell, Rockton Grade School

"Over the summer, my now 6 year old son was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome. He completed one year of Kindergarten last year, but being the youngest in his class and with all his struggles socially, we decided another year in kindergarten would be best. We knew completing the school year that his teacher this year would be Mrs. Campbell. I had heard many great things about her, but after my sons diagnosis I was worried how this year would go. We are about 1.5 months into the school year, and my experience with her has been great ! She constantly is in communication with me and provides me daily reports of what is happening in the classroom. She really has my sons best interest at heart and that means so much to me. Last night, my son asked me if we could go buy his teacher flowers and I asked him why he wanted to do that. His reply, "because she is so nice to me and lots of people are mean to me" I could have cried. Tears of sadness and tears of joy. I was sad because he knows people treat him differently and I was joyful that he trusts his teacher and recognizes her hard work. At the beginning of this year, I was nervous of how the year would go, but knowing he is in Mrs. Campbell's hands, I know he will have a great and successful year !!! Thank you mrs. Campbell !!!!!!!!!"
