Teacher of the Week: Mrs. Rohl from Rockford Christian School
A brand new Teacher of the Week was announced this morning on the Steve Shannon Show.
Congratulations to Mrs. Rohl from Rockford Christian School in Rockford. Mrs. Rohl won flowers from Broadway Florist and a bundt cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes.
She was nominated by Emily Palm, a former student.
Emily says:
Mrs. Rohl was my sixth-grade science teacher. She is the one who inspired me to pursue science, and now I am an undergrad getting a major in biology.
Mrs. Rohl helps to run the sixth grade Science Olympiad team at Rockford Christian and continues to get middle schoolers excited about science. She does everything she can to help her students even if she herself is struggling. At one point she had some ankle problems but that did not stop her from teaching her kids. Mrs. Rohl uncovered my passion in life and helped me to pursue it throughout all of middle school and high school, and even now in college.
After high school, we became friends on Facebook and she is genuinely excited to see and know what kinds of scientific endeavors I am pursuing. She gives constant support and encouragement even after I left the halls of Rockford Christian.
Mrs. Rohl deserves to be the teacher of the week because she goes above and beyond to make sure her students are enjoying science. I still remember some of the basic science teachings she taught me more than six years ago. She is the one who introduced me to the scientific method and my first dissection and continues to light the path for my scientific career. We need more teachers in the sciences to inspire students as Mrs. Rohl has done.
