Rockford Teacher’s Passion is Changing Lives One Dance Class at a Time
In a world that often feels rushed, one teacher is taking the time to truly connect with her students—what a heartwarming story!
97ZOK Teacher of the Week

Congratulations to Theresa Northrup from Auburn High School in Rockford, Illinois
Jada Lundberg nominated Mrs. Northrup, she writes,
Theresa is a dance teacher at Auburn high school and she has been my teacher for 4 years now. She is the most motivating person and teacher I have ever met. She drives us so hard and not because she wants to see us suffer but because she wants us to be the best person we can be. She knows when to be her bossy self and make us workout and when to know we need a mental health day. Every day she says hi to every single one of her students when they walk through her door. She even greets anyone else that comes in and stores lotion, female products, hair ties and anything else students may need. I honestly don’t think I will have another Teacher like her. I hope she wins because she has got me and many other students through so much and she deserves something for all her hard work.
The students aren't the only ones who learn in the "classroom"; often, the teacher learns some wonderful things from their students. Listen to our conversation below, where Theresa shares how blessed she is to have this group of dancers.
