I don't like to switch from wine to booze. I try to drink water in between cocktails for party preservation purposes. NEVER drink on an empty stomach. And while it will give you dragon breath, finish the night with a Gyro. I guess that's not really a drinking rule, it's just the most awesome thing to end a great night out with friends

According to a new survey from Ask.com, 52% of us have rules for ourselves about drinking. From the list of 10, these were the few on my list as a well-seasoned, 47-year-old cocktail-er.

3. Not drinking if you have to work the next day, 19%.

5. Not drinking certain things unless it's during the holidays, 17%.

6. Never mixing beer and liquor and/or wine, 16%.

8. Always having a local beer when you're on vacation, 14%. Which is more like a PRO-drinking rule.

9. Avoiding a certain drink you got HAMMERED on once, 11%. I had sworn off tequila after a terrible fall down the longest friggin' flight of stairs in the history of the world (or at least it seemed... much like Leonard DiCaprio's tumble in Wolf of Wall Street).

Take a break from this list and watch or re-watch this hilarious 3 minute clip. While Leo is 'out of his mind' on qualudes... this is EXACTLY what tequila did to me on that fateful night.

I could almost vomit thinking about tequila right now. Tequila is the devil! Click here to see the rest of the Top 10 self imposed drinking rules.
