Christopher Titus (Titus 200-2002) brings his Born with a Defect comedy tour to Rockford and you can see him for free if you win the Bedside Quiz on The Steve Shannon Show this week. Every weekday morning at 6:05, Steve & Mandy ask a ridiculous trivia question. If you're the first to give the correct answer when you call 815-229-5100, you'll win a pair of tickets to the show.

For those that don't remember his show Titus, it was based on his real-life dysfunctional family. From Internet Movie Database:

His father was a womanizing beer guzzling salesman. Living with his father, he endured a series of stepmothers until, at age 12, he decided to run away from home. He moved into a garage with his biological mother, a classically trained pianist. She spent much of her time in mental institutions before finally committing suicide. From these situations he developed what Titus calls therapeutic stand-up comedy.

You often hear that a comedian's life is usually filled with tragedy. It's from those dark moments that laughter became a coping mechanism. A quote from Christopher, pulled from imdb.com, sure proves that point.

My mom was a manic depressive schizophrenic who, after a year in prison, went home and shot herself. My sister, Kirsten, an amazing poet, who was raised by this woman, and was dating a guy who broke up with her for the fourth time in three weeks. And one day, she came to his house, got a gun, and blew her brains out all over his headboard. I just went through a divorce, five years in court and cost me $2 million dollars. If anyone, by law, should be forced to take antidepressants it's me... But instead, I choose to be an antidepressant. And you can take me with alcohol.
