Every summer, I try to find some kind of fun, ridiculous dessert to bring to my family BBQ.  Not your typical foods or desserts, no.  Something that will get people talking!  I did just that over the weekend.

This year, I decided to make Twinkie Hot Dogs!

And before you panic... no, this is not an actual hot dog shoved into a Twinkie.

It's way better than that.  Believe me.

These fake "hot dogs" are completely made out of sugar and somehow look pretty realistic!  The buns are Twinkies sliced in half, the "hot dog" itself is a Twice bar, and the ketchup and mustard are just red and yellow frosting drizzled on top.  Honestly, whoever came up with this deserves an award for creativity!

The best part?  You can even use edible spray glitter to give them a sparkle (of course, I did!).  I love desserts like this because they instantly become a big hit at the family BBQ.  Low effort, but so delicious!

You can make these for Fourth of July, Memorial Day, any BBQ, summer birthdays, and graduation parties.  They'll probably disappear before you can even get a photo because kids will be all over these.  Trust.

Here's what you need:

  • Twinkies for the buns
  • Twix bars for the hot dogs
  • Red frosting for ketchup
  • Yellow frosting for mustard
  • Edible glitter spray if you want extra sparkle

I already know Twinkie Dogs are going to become a summer tradition for many families because they're weird, sugary, creative, and exactly the over-the-top dessert your next BBQ needs!  If you have a fun dessert I can make for my next cookout, lemme know!
