Women from all over the globe are posting their own half makeup, half no makeup selfies on Instagram.

Whether you're a feminist or not, this is a really exciting time to be a woman. Now more than ever, women are banding together to send a message that we should be proud of who we are and to love ourselves regardless of the pressures from society or the opposite sex to look and act a certain way.

The latest social media trend taking the internet by storm is encouraging women to shut down makeup-shamers by posting a selfie with makeup on only half of their face. The purpose- to let the world know that you wear make-up for yourself; not to impress men or to hide your insecurities.

It all started thanks to a beauty blogger known as NikkieTutorials, who posted a video about the power of makeup.  In the video, she completes a stunning transformation while explaining that she likes to wear makeup because it's fun and when it comes to wearing it, there are no rules; it's there for the days you want to look "hella good."

Since then, women have been inspired to post their love for makeup by posting their own photos and videos with the hashtag #ThePowerOfMakeup, followed by their reasons for why they love to wear makeup.

It's not easy getting up at 2:30 in the morning and wanting to put on makeup, which is why I rarely wear it. You'll see me in makeup if I know I'm creating a video, will be taking photos or have an appearance but other than that, I don't typically wear it. There was a time I wouldn't leave my house without it and then one day, my face cleared up and I just lost the desire to put any more on. Probably more so in fear that my acne would come back.

But, I was inspired by this story and all the photos I saw on Instagram, so I thought I would take this "challenge", too.

What do you think? I remember there were times I would wear makeup and someone would ask me, "who are you trying to impress?" The answer was always no one. Makeup is not a ask that insecure people hide behind; makeup gives YOU the power to control your own image; it's a form of self expression and is individual to you.

I'm going to challenge you to take your own half makeup selfie or tell me why you love to wear makeup.
