Your Family Can Be In Rockford’s St. Patrick’s Driving Parade
This year, you and your family can participate in the St. Patrick's Driving Parade for Rockford.
When I was a child, I loved going to parades. Growing up, my parents would take me to them all the time. It seemed like they happened a lot. For holidays and special events like the 4th of July and so many more.
Every year around my birthday, there was the Lilac Festival Parade in Lombard, Illinois. We would go to it with a bunch of friends and family. Then everyone would come back to our house afterward for my birthday party and cookout.
I would watch the big famous ones on television for Christmas and New Year's Day. Going to Macy's Thanksgiving Parade in New York City is still on my bucket list. I'll get there someday.
I always wanted to be in a parade but I never had the opportunity until recently. I could not be in my high school homecoming parade because I played football and it happened right before the game. My daughter was a cheerleader so she was in the Labor Day parade. I am not going to lie, I was a little jealous.
Finally, I got my chance in 2017. Captain Jack and I drove the 96.7 The Eagle van in the Rockford St. Patrick's Day parade. I had a blast. It was so much fun throwing out candy for the kids.
St. Patrick's Day is one of my favorite holidays. Especially, back in the younger partying days. If you have not noticed, it is a big deal in Rockford. Our city is typically a top-ranked event in the country. The Irish Marching Society does a great job with the parade and PaddyFest.
Unfortunately last year a couple of days before, everything got shutdown and neither took place. This year, the organizers wanted to make sure we had some sort of celebration. Of course, it will be different with restrictions. There will not be PaddyFest and it will be a driving parade instead of a normal one.
Here are some details courtesy of Danny McDade, the President of the Irish Marching Society. He joined me on my show this week to share the information.

There is some good news. Everyone is invited to participate. That means actually being in the parade. I think it is an amazing opportunity for families in Rockford. The kids would love to join the festivities.
