How many times have you driven by the Times Theater in Downtown Rockford and thought, "what a shame"? Sadly, I have zero memories of going to the Times Theater as a kid, but I know it bums me out to drive by and see it in its current state when it could be so much cooler, so much more.

Well, my friends, comeback time for Rockford's Times Theater is finally here, but there is one major catch!

First let me share with you the major announcement that fellow Rockfordian and businessman, Vince Chiarelli, shared on Facebook Monday;

The restoration of Rockford's Times Theater has a pretty hefty pricetag, about $14 million, but most of the required money has already been raised by the Restore The Times Theater organization. Now it's our turn to help them get the remaining $3 million needed.

Does it require you opening up your wallet to donate money? Nope! To get the job done we just need to click and sign a petition. According to the Restore The Times Theater petition on change.org;

We are asking anyone who has memories of good times at the Times Theater, has a desire to enhance the entertainment and cultural activities in Rockford, and would love to see this Rockford landmark restored, to assist us in acquiring this grant so we can save this historic theater.

Getting grant approval requires an outpour of community support. By that I mean, hundreds and thousands of Rockfordians proving how much the Times Theater means to this community by signing the petition and sharing stories of memories made at the Times Theater when it was in its prime.

Can you answer the call for help? Please sign the petition here if you want more entertainment options in Downtown Rockford by 2023.
