Illinois Amazon Shoppers Get Scammed With Fake Recall Texts
If you received a text from "Amazon" claiming that an order you placed in September of 2025 has been recalled, don't click any links it sends you.
I wanted to warn everyone about this because it's an easy scam to fall for, especially during the holiday season. Amazon doesn't send random texts about recalls, ever. You'd see it on their official site or receive an email directly from them if it was legitimate.

I received a group chat text from an unknown number claiming to be Amazon yesterday and the text said this:
Amazon Recall: You ordered this product in September 2025. Due to quality and safety concerns, we are recalling order number 111-7816197-9631022. We recommend that you stop using this product immediately and contact us for a full refund: https://t.co/6wY9jfiPQ1?ppi=4uThmq
Your safety is our top priority, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and disappointment this may cause you. Thank you for shopping with Amazon.

These scam texts are getting really good at looking official. They use fake order numbers, logos, and the same tone as Amazon when they send real notifications. But once you click the link, it'll take you to a fake site that looks identical to Amazon and ask for all your personal information, credit card number, social security number, login info, etc.

If you ever get a text like this, don't click anything and don't call the number. Go directly to Amazon's website and sign in to check your real orders. If there's no recall notice on there, it's fake. You can even forward the text to 7726 (SPAM) to report it!
Don't get scammed this holiday season.
