It could be game over for a video game retailer in Rockford.

GameStop has stores everywhere, literally. There are more than 5,000 locations... for now, but the company plans on dumping a bunch beginning this month. GameStop's CFO told Business Insider,

We are on track to close between 180 and 200 underperforming stores globally by the end of this fiscal year.

No word on whether Rockford's stores will be on the chopping block but BI reports GameStop will be closing even more stores in the one to two years.

The company is expecting to close a "much larger" group of stores in the next one to two years.

It's no surprise another store selling physical copies of digital entertainment could soon cease to exist. It seems like more and more people are downloading new movies and video games.
