Nowadays, you go to the grocery store and wonder how the four items you needed ended up costing you $98.

I used to love going grocery shopping when I first moved into my apartment because everything was so inexpensive.  I could get a grocery cart full of food for dang near $100.  I can't even afford to eat now without breaking the bank!

There are so many grocery stores in Illinois, but which ones do we love the most?  Which stores do we swear by because the prices are just too good?!

Most people in Rockford love Woodman's or Aldi.  I don't blame them!  They have prices you just can't beat with an experience you can't find anywhere else.  Plus, Aldi has the "Aisle of Shame" and Woodman's has the largest frozen pizza aisle around town.

Illinois Is Home To 26 Locations Of The Most Overpriced Grocery Store

They might have a very loyal following, but Whole Foods is considered the most overpriced grocery store in Illinois.

"One thing that hasn’t changed is that Whole Foods remains the most expensive grocery choice in the Chicago area. The store we surveyed had prices that were about 29 percent higher than the all-store average, or 36 percent higher than Mariano’s and Woodman’s." [checkbook]
