This video of a police officer walking hand-in-hand with a scared; mentally disabled woman will restore your faith in humanity.

Within the last few months there has been story after story of innocent people being shot and killed by police: Samuel Dubose, Sandra Bland, Darrius Stewart and Eric Garner (just to name a few); it's so heartbreaking. Not a day goes by, now, where we don't hear something about an officer involved shooting or a story about police brutality. It's sickening. Which is exactly why I not only needed this story today, but I wanted to share it with you. It's good to see that there are goodhearted law enforcement officers that still believe in serving and protecting.

Bloomingdale police officer Giovenco responded to a call regarding a 21-year-old mentally disabled woman who had wandered away from her home. She was found walking along the roadway, adding that she was "visibly scared and upset and would not come with the police." She told the police that she just wanted to "walk the trails" so officer Giovenco walked with her, hand-in-hand, until she was able to calm down; he walked her all the way home.

The Bloomingdale Police Department posted this video of the two walking together on their Facebook page.

Both the officer and the woman made it home safe that day; it doesn't get much better than that.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could see more stories like this in the news?
