CherryVale Mall announced new hours.

When I was a teenager, I definitely would consider myself a mallrat. Before my friends and I had driver's licenses, we would take the bus to get there. If we had a day off school and were looking for something to do, it usually meant a trip to the mall.

It had everything we needed. A food court to get some lunch. The game room would keep us busy for hours. Plus, I could spend a long time checking out the record store. All my favorite places to buy clothes were there too.

The holidays were an exciting time because the place was hopping and the hours were extended. That allowed for more time to hang out.

I think it is funny now because my daughter enjoys going to the mall to look around. My mom hated taking me there but for the past few years, she goes every day in the winter to get her walking in. I still stop by the mall if I doing some shopping or looking to just get out of the house for a little while.

Of course, CherryVall Mall here in Rockford had the extended hours for Christmas with many shoppers taking advantage. Now, that the holidays are over, people's trips to the mall slow down for a bit. For this reason, they decided to adjust the hours.

According to the CherryVale Mall Facebook page...

"Beginning today, Monday, January 4, 2021, CherryVale Mall will be open Monday through Thursday from 11 am - 7 pm, Friday and Saturday from 11 am - 8 pm and Sunday 12 pm - 6 pm."

I guess the mall walkers will have to get a later start.
