Why It’s A Blessing To Have So Much Construction in Rockford

I know what you're thinking: construction in Rockford is a nightmare.

The cones.

The lane closures.

The detours.

The terrible drivers who don't know how to merge.

It's all enough to make you want to pull your hair out sometimes.  But honestly?  I've come to realize it's kind of a blessing in disguise.

Why It's A Blessing To Have So Much Construction in Rockford

With so many construction projects happening across the city, we've had no choice but to zigzag through unfamiliar neighborhoods, cut through side streets, and find new ways of getting from point A to point B.

It hasn't been all that bad, though.

Personally, I love it!  One day, I realized I've found so many different, and faster, ways to get to work!  I haven't had to use my GPS anymore because I've started learning all the neighborhoods around me.  Plus, I've seen new murals, and discovered local shops I probably would've never seen if I wasn't detoured that way.

So, yes, construction might slow us down, and it can be annoying.  But it's also given us an opportunity to explore, take new routes, and switch it up if we ever feel like it.  Because we don't really know how long this construction will go on for, we might as well make the best of it!  After all, the new roads are going to look (and feel!) incredible when it's all finished.

Now, share which areas of Rockford have the worst construction right now.  I'd have to say North Second because they constantly change how many lanes are open every day and night.  That's actually frustrating to navigate!
