Rockford Rescue Mission Needs Winter Coat Donations
It's FREEZING out. If you have the luxury of putting on a warm winter coat before you go outside, then you are truly blessed. It's the time of year we need to think of keeping our community warm.
The Rockford Rescue Mission hosts around 155 people each night providing hot meals, dry clothes, a warm environment and winter clothes. They are in critical need of coat donations. According to WTVO, the executive director Sherry Pitney says -
This early in the year, many coat drives are just beginning and we have dozens of men, women and children without proper winter attire. The Mission is in need of larger size coats for our men and women as well as coats for the children. New or gently used coats- especially larger sizes for men and women, as well as warm coats for children, and undergarments for men, women and children are always appreciated and provide tremendous help. We have seen a 24% increase in individuals seeking our overnight services which has also left a critical need for laundry detergent, toilet paper and coffee.
So please consider donating. Donations of clothing, food, and supplies can be delivered to the Rockford Rescue Mission, at 715 West State Street, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Monetary donations can be made online at rockfordrescuemission.org.
