There is already serious debate about how or if trick-or-treating will be a thing in 2020. Now another simple joy is at stake. COVID-19 has literally thrown a wrench into all aspects of life, and this is proof. In fact, the pandemic might have just completely ruined Halloween. Cue a sugar lover's meltdown. The company behind some of Halloween's most popular candies is pushing pause on producing some of its sugary favorites... for now.

Just Born Quality Confections has been cracking on Peeps since 1923. They also handle the production of Hot Tamales and Mike & Ike, all of which won't be making 2020 holiday appearances until after Halloween is done. Yup, don't bother rushing to the store for deep discounts on the aforementioned candies because they won't be on shelves. Why? They want to focus primarily on "bigger" holidays, specifically Easter of 2021, according to CNN. This also true for some select flavors of Hot Tamales and Mike & Ike candies. Apparently not as of much candy is purchased during the winter months?

So although we won't find Peeps shaped like pumpkins, ghosts, and other Halloween themed things, we will able to find winter holiday shapes. All this because the folks at Just Born want to make sure the Peeps are a-plenty for Easter, their biggest money-making holiday of the year. Isn't ironic that "nobody" likes this sugary marshmallow treat yet there's enough demand that requires production to be halted to accommodate Easter?
