Watch a Wisconsin Shop Make The World’s Longest String Cheese
The real question is - do you pull it or bite it?
Wisconsin - Home of the cheese! Seeing that Wisconsin is known for its cheese, it doesn't surprise me that they know are the record holders of the world's longest string cheese. So how long is record breaking long?
Personally, I assumed something like 10 feet, maybe as long as 50 feet. But even picturing that in my head felt impossible. Man oh man was I VERY wrong. Let's talk about the previous record they set out to break that day. Spoiler alert - it's shocking.
So the record was updated in 2006 when the business created a 2,000-foot-long piece of string cheese. I know ... 2,000 FEET? The funny thing is it's the same cheese shop that set the original record. UPI details -
Gerard Knaus, master cheesemaker at Weyauwega Star Dairy in Weyauwega, said his father, former master cheesemaker Jim Knaus, presided over the first successful Guinness World Record string cheese attempt in 1995, and the record was updated in 2006 when the business created a 2,000-foot-long piece of string cheese.
So what's the new record look like? Well, it looks like a lot of cheese, a tractor, and a road full of happy Wisconsiners.
Being a cheese lover myself, that looks like the best day ever. So how long was their record breaking string cheese?
3,832 feet
To give you a visual of just how much cheese that is, a half mile is 2,640 feet long. So this string cheese stretched over a half mile long. The owner of the cheese shop said documentation from the latest event will be submitted to Guinness to have the record updated with the new cheese length. He said he wants his father's name to remain on the record.
