Stop The Infestation: 5 Pests To Watch Out For This Fall In Illinois
With constant season changes in Illinois, many pests are seeking warmth to keep safe throughout the colder months. Watch out for these little guys as winter nears.
Since we've been spoiled by Mother Nature and enjoying 70 to 80 degree weather in late October, insects and small critters are probably equally confused by how to prepare for the next few months just like us.

If your house is a spider-magnet, I heard from more than a handful of people that hedge apples really do the trick! Give it a try and see if it works wonders for you!

"The use of hedge apples for insect control is one of the most enduring pest management home remedies. Claims abound that hedge apples around the foundation or inside the basement will repel boxelder bugs, crickets, spiders, and other pests." [yardandgarden]

STINK BUGS
Once you see one stink bug, that's only the start of it. They release pheromones that alert other stink bugs to move in, too. To effectively eliminate them, get dish soap, water, a spray bottle, and a vacuum. This will help you tackle the infestation.
ASIAN LADY BEETLES
These bad boys travel together, too. There's a huge invasion in Illinois right now so don't be alarmed if you wake up with a hundred on your ceiling or coating your windowsills. A shop vac will be your best friend for easy clean up!

BOXELDER BUGS
They're not dangerous, don't worry. They can be annoying, though! To lower the number in your home, dish soap, water, a spray bottle, and a vacuum might help.
COCKROACHES
Cockroaches can't survive winter temps and migrate indoors for the winter. This insect is more difficult to get rid of so sticky traps might be a better option for pest control!
RODENTS
I saved this one for last because when they invade... they invade hard. Luckily, I have cats who sniff them out and trap them in my bathtub. Try to seal every crack around your house and avoid leaving food out.
