We are always hearing what NOT to eat when we want to get in shape, but how about we go in the other direction, with what to ADD to our diets to take off a couple of pounds.

Because eating is better than starving.

Huffington Post came up with this list and it sounds pretty good to me.

  1. Nuts. Eating almonds, cashews, even peanuts make us 46% less likely to be obese, but you do have to make sure you are watching how much you eat.
  2. Popcorn. This is one of my favorites on the list, because popcorn can last a whole TV show! But of course, this is air-popped or fat free microwave corn, not movie theater style.
  3. Spicy Foods. Spiciness boosts our metabolism and suppresses appetites. I may have to borrow Steve Shannon's sriracha.
  4. Water. Ok, well this is the most boring item on the list. But yeah, drink water.
  5. Fruit. Thumbs up, I love fruit, peaches, watermelon and strawberries are packed with water so they fill you up and then basically you pee it out instead of having it stick to your flab.
  6. Oats. Rebecah Lamb eats oats all the time and she is a rockstar athlete, have you seen her arm wrestle her co-host?
  7. Chicken (eggs, fish, dairy, proteins). When you're feeling hungry, try protein before trying carbs, then you'll at least have less room once you reach for the cookies.
  8. Breakfast. Woo hoo! Breakfast is my favorite part of the day. Something is better than nothing.
  9. Dark Chocolate. Hold the phone, the other day we saw that chocolate helps us be more productive and now it helps us lose weight too. Bring it on.

What's your favorite item on this list? Please don't say water, we won't believe you.
