I just learned something this morning that has me feeling quite stupid. I was looking up information on the Tokyo Olympic Games that begin on Friday, July 23, 2021, and I realized they are actually called Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. When I saw that '2020' I had to do a double-take, but then I remembered they were supposed to happen last summer and COVID-19 botched it all up. Apparently, the Olympic Committee decided to keep the name 'Olympic Games Tokyo 2020' so that future marketing, branding, and Olympic Games schedules won't be all out of whack too.

Anywho, back to the subject at hand...

Rockford's Discovery Center Museum Invites You To Their 'Olympic Challenge'

To join in the fun of the 2020/2021 Olympic Games, the Discovery Center Museum in Rockford is hosting an 'Olympic Challenge' Family Fun Day on Friday, July 30, 2021.

The last time the Summer Olympic Games happened my youngest daughter was just about 2 months old, and I was still on maternity leave, so my family spent a lot of time watching the games. I think my girls will both get into watching the gymnastic, swimming, and diving meets this year, but I also KNOW they would love doing a little 'Olympics' of their own at one of their favorite places, the Discovery Center Museum.

Here's What's Happening During Discovery Center's 'Olympic Challenge'

For the museum admission price of $9 per person, (kids 1 and under are free), families will be able to take part in a whole bunch of Olympic-themed contests and activities throughout the Discovery Center. Their recent press release says;

Can you create the biggest bubble or beat the long jump record? Can you master the obstacle course? Become a Discovery Center Olympian for a day and explore the exhibits in a whole new way. Compete in challenges around the museum, and then stop by the Art Studio to create your own medal.

Doesn't that sound like something your kids will love? The special activities will run from 10 a.m. to Noon and 1 to 3 p.m.at Discovery Center Museum on July 30th, and advance registration is recommended. You can do that now at discoverycentermuseum.org, just choose the 'Museum Visit Session' option.
