Besides Noble Meyer and Thomas White, two big-name Miami Marlins prospects currently suiting up for the Sky Carp, there's another speedy player we all need to keep our eyes on because this guy is quick.
Why You Might Want to Catch a Sky Carp Game
I'm talking about a 21-year-old former Phillies draft pick who just came to the Sky Carp by way of a trade to Miami. His name is Emaarion Boyd, and just a couple of days ago, he made some serious history.
Playing in Iowa against Cedar Rapids, Boyd stole six bases, not one, not two, but six in one game.
Six Steals, Zero Hits
As if that wasn't impressive enough, Boyd did it all without registering a hit, something no minor league player has ever done.
Boyd reached three times: a fielder's choice, a walk, and a hit-by-pitch. From there, he did his thing on the bases and stole second and third shortly after.
Keep Your Eyes on This Guy
It's a historic performance: Six stolen bases without a hit hasn't happened in the majors since 1901.
It's the kind of thing that makes you sit up and notice. Meyer and White are going to be good and one day play in the bigs, but we might need to start considering how good Emaarion Boyd is going to be, too.
