If you are swimming in a wide open space and run across a manatee do you scream or try and say "hello?"

For the girl in the video, it's scream.

It doesn't look like she is any imminent danger with the manatee lurking nearby.

I'm also not an authority of manatee behavior however...

According to defenders.org:

Manatee's are "well known for their gentle, slow-moving nature, manatees have also been known to body surf or barrel roll when playing. They normally rest and feed often. Manatees communicate by squealing under water to demonstrate fear, stress or excitement."

Regardless of the manatee's seemingly calm demeanor, this girl must've thought she was going to be it's lunch.

I'm grateful for that. If she did know, the video wouldn't be so funny.
